Dogs are considered as family members because these animals are well loved pets. As such, the pet will be provided with all the comforts imaginable. As the babies of the family, dogs will be provided with toys. Fashionable clothes and accessories will be bought for the dog. Dogs are allowed to share not only the bed but all the other things used by the owner. Kids sleep with their parents, kids are allowed to used the parents' grooming supplies too, does this mean that dogs will be allowed to do so as well?

Dogs owners are aware that the pet needs to be regularly groomed as it is a vital factor in keeping the dog healthy and happy. A dog has to be groomed regularly to attain an impressive appearance but the grooming routine also allows the pet owner to see if a health concern is starting to develop in the dog's body. The beginning of a parasite infestation can be resolved at once before it would have a chance to develop and to affect the dog seriously. Depending on how the pet was trained, the grooming session can be happy and hilarious moments or a challenging task that would daunt the most determined dog owner

The right tools and supplies will make the owner's task of grooming the dog a lot more easier. Brushing is an essential part of dog grooming. The owner's brushes and combs must never be used on the dog even if the pet is very clean and parasite free. The dog owner can choose from soft bristle or pin brushes, from wire or slicker brushes but what is more important is to choose a tool that would fit the kind of coat the dog has.

The dog's hair may need trimming or stripping thus it would be necessary to have a blunt tipped scissors or a stripping knife. Nail clippers, hemostat for removing excess hair from the ears will be needed as well.

Dogs must have their own grooming supplies as human supplies can have dangerous effects to the dog. Human shampoo, conditioner or soap must never be used on the pet as these human grooming supplies can have ingredients that are harmful to the sensitive skin of the dog. The same thing is true with human toothpaste. This is because dogs have the tendency to swallow anything placed into their mouths. Some ingredients in human toothpaste would be harmful to dogs.
