Located in historic Charlottesville, Virginia, the University of Virginia, or "UVA" is one of the nation's top nursing schools. UVA has a very strong nursing program with many of the desired degree programs represented. UVA also offers direct entry Master's of Nursing programs for students with a bachelor's degree in another discipline, as well as joint degree programs with other UVA graduate schools, such as the law school.

There are two basic requirements for certification and that includes: Completion of state and federal approved nurse aide training program. Passing of CNA Certification Test. CNA training program consist of classroom and clinical hands-on training of 75 to 150 hours, as per particular state necessities. Washing and safety are vital skills needed to be demonstrated by the examinee. Time allowed for skill test is 30 to 45 minutes. The passing score for the test is 75% & above.

Most schools, whether they offer an accelerated nursing program online or not, will first perform a background check on all applicants before admitting them to their program. Furthermore, employers that deliberately or irresponsibly ignore board protocol and standards, such as expanding the range of functions of a Certified Nursing Assistant are subject to disciplinary action. As with disciplinary actions against individual nurses, institution violations are recorded into the various public health databases, such as the HIPDB.
