If your small apartment however is a mess, well the work can take a bit longer. No worries though, it will still be faster as opposed to organizing a big messy house.

I know, what a drag to clean, isn't it? But what can we do? Life isn't fair and we must deal with it. It wasn't included in nature's plan that things will sort themselves out on their own. Hence, we must exert effort to organize our things and make our living spaces as human-friendly as possible.

Planning involves:

Get rid of things you don't need. Store things you might need later. Keep things you sometimes or seldom use readily on hand. Sort out the necessary items - those you need, want and use.

Put everything in place. Sure, you've sorted them out but merely stuffing them in a drawer is as crazy as leaving your apartment in mess. Utilize proper compartments or boxes for keeping your things.

Have a house check-up. Check your lighting, wiring and other things crucial for a smooth-running house.

Decorate with pretty things. Fresh flowers, scented candles and some artworks don't cost much but they sure make a home look nice.

Always be on a lookout for things that can help your house look good. You don't have to buy the exact same products. Getting inspiration is good enough. There are always cheaper alternatives out there.

Invest in a convertible sofa. This can be your "guest room." Set aside nice-looking and comfortable beddings for when a guest needs to stay for the night. With a soft bedsheet, lush pillow and warm comforter, sleeping on a sofa won't be that bad.

Colorful baskets can be kept for toys to make it easy for children to put back after play. Also bunk beds with drawers at the bottom would allow them enough room to play and also provide plenty of storage space to keep books, bags, clothes and other trivia that tend to clutter up the place.

Don't waste space with too big cabinets and shelves. They should be appropriate with your apartment size.

Small spaces need light colors to widen the area. Light-colored curtains are better for a limited size room to give an impression of a spacious area. Pastel colors are also soothing and makes a room look more inviting.

Speaking of area rugs, these floor decors are essential for successful home decorating. Without an area rug, a room will look lacking. Plus, you miss out on a comfy material for your feet. An area rug may only be on the floor, but it has an interesting impact on how a room looks. It looks more coordinated and the added color and design helps you achieve the look you want for a given space.

Don't forget your lighting. Make sure there's ample lighting in the important area of the house, such as the backyard and entryway. Don't allow your home to look dingy and dull. A bright-looking house comes off as more congenial and inviting.
